LCD monitor

I am thinking about buying a 17 inch or 19 inch LCD monitor. I  have a 
small desk and need to save space. Also, my vision requires at least 17 
inches.  My present  monitor was purchased with my Cube.
I have two major considerations: price (of course) and reliability.
I would appreciate suggestions. A refurbished monitor might be an 
option. I want to know about brands which work well for others. I can 
not afford $700 for the Apple monitor.
