François! I have a solution! I had the same problem just this weekend. I knew that the balance controls were usually in the Output section of the Sound pref, but there was NO slider to adjust that. Yesterday I unplugged my speakers (USB) and plugged them back in and the slider magically appeared! They are all back to normal now! Try that- hope it works for you. Oh. just re-read your post, looks like you've found the unplug-replug trick. Maybe you just shouldn't reboot your cube ; ) -Chip On Nov 24, 2003, at 5:38 PM, François Menu wrote: > Le 24 nov. 03, à 23:25, Eagle a écrit : > >> The balance slider is on the Output panel. > > I know where the balance slider is! :-) It's not a problem of not > being able to correct the sound balance, it's that after booting, > sometimes (fairly often), the balance is not where I left it (usually > perfectly centered :-) And when I go to the Output Tab of the Sound > Panel of the System Preferences, there's no balance slider at all, but > a message stating that the system could not detect any command for the > device (?).
