It would if you used something like Ryan Rempel's free XPostFacto 
utility to install Jaguar. I've been running OS X (and now Jag) on an 
8600/G4-400 for a couple of years, although I decided to use the 
installer utility from Sonnet Technology (not free) with my Sonnet 
upgrade card.
