Did you read the same article I did? "However, the Apple USB speakers must be connected to the computer or monitor." The only reference to hubs in the article specifically says that they should not be used. There is no reference to "powered hubs". The article even says _not_ to use the built-in USB ports on Macs other than the Cube.
