I can't agree more on this, but it is a fact that a number of people, including myself, tried connecting USB speakers to a powered USB hub and that resulted in failure - they ended up very quiet or dropped the sound occasionally. Since I'm also open minded :) I allow for the possibility that this setup might work for someone, but such cases are from my experience very rare. Superdrive/memory issue is not a good analogy here. A long time ago I even had a technical document explaining the issue involved here but God knows where it is right now.
