Mark,
I reckon that Keith has it right - but you might like to download a
piece of freeware, Memorystick and try it for a while. It will give
you a picture of your memory use, crude, but good enough to give you
some idea of yur memory needs while you are using your mac typically.

I believe that the max RAM is 1.5GB
