Hello friends again, first the answer to Seans question: for my test I used a simple measuring tool for consumption (normally used for household appliances), that shows the numbers on a LCD-Display. You can read with 0.1 Watt reading precision. (Not just very exact, but enough as I believe/hope.) Thanks for your data, Gnarlodious :-) ! Now data of a second test and a question: After testing the consumption I wanted to know, which of my graphic Cards is fastest. I took the original ATi Rage 128, a GeForce 4MX and a ATi Radeon 8500 and the benchmarktool Xbench V. 1.1.3 (with Panther 10.3.2) And I got quite disappointing results. Now I want to know, in which degree the graphic performance depends on the CPU. Would some of you tell us their results on a cube with CPU-upgrade (esp. 1.2 GHz or so)? You'll find Xbench at http://xbench.com The test should be run several times (of course without any other processes), because the results differ every time. I only send the graphic results... My results are: Cube 450 MHz - 1,5 GB RAM - Panther 10.3.2 For the Radeon 8500: ___________________ Quartz Graphics Test 70.44 Line 57.18 1.46 Klines/sec [50% alpha] Rectangle 65.95 4.64 Krects/sec [50% alpha] Circle 69.07 1.59 Kcircles/sec [50% alpha] Bezier 66.04 717.63 beziers/sec [50% alpha] Text 114.76 1.87 Kchars/sec OpenGL Graphics Test 47.54 Spinning Squares 47.54 33.27 frames/sec For the GeForce 4MX: ___________________ Quartz Graphics Test 69.29 Line 56.75 1.44 Klines/sec [50% alpha] Rectangle 66.37 4.67 Krects/sec [50% alpha] Circle 65.11 1.50 Kcircles/sec [50% alpha] Bezier 65.88 715.83 beziers/sec [50% alpha] Text 111.89 1.82 Kchars/sec OpenGL Graphics Test 55.79 Spinning Squares 55.79 39.04 frames/sec For the Rage 128: ________________ Quartz Graphics Test 63.46 Line 49.09 1.25 Klines/sec [50% alpha] Rectangle 59.45 4.18 Krects/sec [50% alpha] Circle 60.77 1.40 Kcircles/sec [50% alpha] Bezier 64.18 697.36 beziers/sec [50% alpha] Text 104.58 1.70 Kchars/sec OpenGL Graphics Test 73.12 Spinning Squares 73.12 51.17 frames/sec In fact, I can't believe these results: the Radeon 8500 and GeForce should be remarkable faster, but they aren't. Why? And: Are these the best results at all? Or does it depends strongly on the CPU? What is the maximum on our 2x AGP??? Have a nice weekend Thanks in advance Stevie I sent this mail earlier today, but it was not accepted by the daemon, I think. Maybe because I had coloured letters in the mail?
