Hi Gladys.  I have a Canon LiDE 30 with which I have been very 
impressed, and it works with OS X as long as you have some scanning 
software.  Canon recommends Photoshop, but I use PhotoStudio X.

All you need to do is boot from the OS 9 CD and run the installer.  No 
problems.
