nope. i use it on my g3 500 ibook all the time. it has 8mb of vram. what is not possible is the fast user switching transition animation. this is an arbitrary capability, i believe. i have iphoto 4 installed on this same ibook, and the cube slide show transition animation works very well. i believe the fast user switching animation would work fine as well. basically, i believe quartz extreme is a lot of hooey, um, hype. it came at a time when apple was getting blasted for basic gui speed/performance. so, running panther on my ibook with 640 mb ram and on my cube with 832, and a gf2mx card, i'd say the biggest differentiators are Altivec and the 100mhz bus. --alan On Mar 17, 2004, at 5:14 AM, Erik Ness wrote: > So Expose is Quartz Extreme dependent?
