OK, I'll try the re-format step (which I did not do on my first few attempts). I know that you can clone between "unlike" machines (e.g. cube to powerbook, powerbook to desktop) in OS 10.3.x because I've done so before - also with CCC. Never had to erase / reformat in those instances, but I have nothing to loose, so I'll try .........
