Have you tried reseting the PRAM!? If this does not work, maybe you could also try pressing the CUDA button.

My Cube 500 won't boot. Hangs at the opening grey Apple without the 
spinning circle ever showing up. Won't boot from the install CD holding 
down the C key. Seems not to recognize the IDE CD-ROM drive nor an 
external FireWire drive. Can't boot into FireWire mode either. The 
drive appears to be hosed although I did nothing special for this to 
happen. Any ideas?
