[Cube] My Cube is in a Million Pieces

If you click the link, you'll see my Cube completely torn apart.  I got ambitious today and decided that since it's been giving me so much trouble lately, I'd just go ahead and take it completely apart and start over with it.

Somebody asked me when I last changed the battery: "never", so that may be the root of some of the problems since it's five years old.  So, that's number one on the agenda.  I have the GF3 in the freezer so I can pry off the fan with the old credit card trick (Yes, I got the pins/springs off already).

When I got the Superdrive from OWC, I got a fan made for the Cube with it.  It says "RIBBED LED ALL BLUE BALL BEARING" on it, and it did not come with any instructions.  I have no idea how it's supposed to be oriented: Is the label supposed to face the base plate or up toward the interior of the core?  Which side are the wires supposed to be on: Toward the connectors, or away from them? (It doesn't seem they could go off to the sides because the retainer bracket would pinch them).  I did find the connector for the power to the fan, so that's no problem.

I'm probably going to need Laurie's site to get this thing back together again.  ;^D
