Stock 450Mhz Cube with 40GB Seagate HD upgraded to 10.3.9 1. Fastest, easiest install ever 2. Avoided years of problems people reported with 10.2 (puke-ware) 3. Printing to my PCL-based HP5P printer via SAMBA worked 4. Fast boot! Boot time went from about 2min. to a little over 1min. 5. NFS upload slow [better performance using forced NFS UDP mode, there's a thread on this: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-net/2005-March/006614.html] Tried 10.4.1 1. Printing to HP 5P printer broke 2. Bootup back to 10.1.5 sluggishness about 2 min. 3. Spotlight very nice 4. Didn't tried Automator 5. Fast NFS upload Went back to 10.3.9, I have to agree with Pep. Maybe if 10.4.5 ever comes out I'll give it a whirl! Cheers, --GS > Pep wrote: > > All in all, not much of an improvement, IMO. I don't see what all the > commotion was about.
