Not sure if this will work but what i would do is throw away 5 that is  
 in the trash and then use get info on a pdf file and then choose  
 acrobat six to open them from the list and then click change all.

Yup.  It was opening up the program from the trash.  I didn't think that was possible because I can't open files that are in the trash, but whatever.  Thanks.  Acrobat is hist.
