My folks, who live in tornado alley, have had to replace every electronic device in the house due to line surges during thunderstorms. Dad finally listened to the wisdom of surge suppressors. You can buy suppressors with guarantees for replacing whatever is damaged. A little more expensive, but it might cover what the home owner's won't. pf
