Hi all. If anyone's interested, replacing the internal cd-rom drive in the cube wasn't as hard as I first thought. I decided to replace it with a slot loading slim DVD-ROM/CD-R/RW combo drive. The biggest headache was mounting the drive and insuring that it's slot was aligned properly with the slot at the top of the inner cube cage. I had some small scrap sheets of aluminum which I fashioned into a pair of flexible brackets. It's definitely worth the effort, no more frustration with stuck disks...for now anyway. :) Complete newbie's might want to pass on this option though. You'll need a slot loading slim profile (laptop) drive, I used a panasonic drive (UJ-85J-B) but you may want to get one with apple firmware (DVR-K05PD). If you use a non firmware drive you'll also need to use patchburn or some other utility to create a hardware profile in order to burn disks. You'll need a slim CD-ROM to IDE adapter and a molex power supply converter/extension cable (converts a 5 1/4" power supply cable to 3 1/2"). As mentioned you will also need a way of mounting the drive. And don't forget to change you hd setting to slave! :) James. _________________________________________________________________ Get live scores and news about your team: Add the Live.com Football Page www.live.com/?addtemplate=football&icid=T001MSN30A0701
