Well, I finally got it to work. First, I used the Command/Option/O/F keys at startup to reset-nvram and reset-all. Then I went into Boot Drive using Option at startup. It showed my main volume with the OS X icon AND my OS X 10.4 disk in the DVD-ROM drive. Strangely, attempting to boot from the DVD-ROM did not work, but the main volume did. This is very confusing. I do not understand why it wouldn't just boot at startup. Strange.
