Re. the below, years ago when my Cube was just a month or so new (ah, those were the days) problems with both the battery as well as having unpredictable hard drive cut-outs. Apologies if it's already been mentioned recently on the list, but this was explained bizarrely as being a hardware problem where a design fault meant that something was touching something else.
