I just wanted to note that the Epson 2450 has a maximum OPTICAL dpi of 2450 (like its name). The rest is all software tricks. Just as optical zoom on our cameras is the number we take seriously, so optical dpi on a scanner is the real thing. While the scanner software is making up pixels to add and the camera is cutting out pixels around the edge, both are marketing features.
