Moving DVD files into iMovie

I've had a service copy our old 8mm movies to a DVD.  How can I move 
the resulting DVD movie into iMovie to edit the movies?

The files on the DVD are as follows.  I have tried dragging them into 
iMovie without success.  How can it be done?

Folder:  VIDEO_TS
The above folder contains the following files:
VTS_01_1.VOB
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_2.VOB
