As promised I have the results from testing OSX with 80meg RAM vs 112meg. Ok, Ok. I know I'm selling a few of these 96meg cards (when I find them) but I promise these results are unaltered :-) So, I downloaded Xbench software and ran it on my 2400 G3 400mhz/80 then I upgraded to 112meg and ran Xbench again. Xbench does a slew of tests on ram, video, disk etc etc and seems extremely thorough. I took about 5 mins to complete the test. Without going into specific detail on everything that Xbench reported, here are the results: 2400 400/80 Average Score = 24.26 (in 10.2.2) 2400 400/112 Average Score = 26.73 (in 10.2.2) without doing the math it's about a 8% increase. Not huge, but I can certainly feel a difference. So I conclude (as expected by everyone) that OSX with 112 meg of RAM is faster. The biggest speed increase, as reported by Xbench, seemed to be in the area of RAM (suprise!). Everything else (even disk) was also accelerated but to a lesser degree. Phil P.S. An Interesting side-note: after upgrading to 10.2.3 and rerunning Xbench the final score was slightly slower than with 10.2.2...strange, as most people say that 10.2.3 is noticeably faster than the previous version. 2400 400/112 Average Score = 26.42 (in 10.2.3)
