startup problems-can't find OS

When I travel I have my 2400 on sleep, so if (especially common in Europe)
security makes me turn on the computer it's right up. Day before yesterday I
flew from Munich to Spain, and when I wanted to work yesterday the 2400
wouldn`t wake up.

Restart did _not_ solve the problem; now it can`t find the OS, I get the
blinking question mark. 

Of course, for a short trip I didn't take _anything_ such floppy, cd, zip
etc with me. PRAM reset didn't work so far, extensions off didn't either.
Anything I forgot? Anything I can do?
And in general - could those new xray machines torpedoe the PRAM or such?
