My powerbook 2400 produces a click and alternates between green light on/off despite many Sydney Ho resets and disassembly. After recieving the dead powerbook I left the battery and AC power unplugged overnight and tried the reset again to no avail. Then I took the powerbook apart and disabled the internal battery, a rectangular green thing. To replace it would cost about 40 bucks, so I put the computer back together with the reconnected battery several weeks later. I reset the computer and plugged in the AC adapter and the powerbook returned to its former state. Do I need to replace the internal battery to get the powerbook to function or is there a reset I have to perform while the battery is disconnected?
