Find the proper SCSI cable(s) to connect your 2400 to the 580CD (Since the Pismo eschewed SCSI in favor of FireWire). As Dylan said, this will at least involve an HDI-30 adapter for your 2400. Other adapters depend on SCSI cable availability. Do NOT use a PC printer cable -- it will fry your 2400. And possibly your 580CD. And maybe your cat or significant other. It's just that bad. 1. Turn off both Macs. Seriously. If you care about the data, you'll turn them both off. 2. Plug in all the cables and adapters. SCSI voodoo doll optional. 3. Press and hold the "z" key on the 2400. While keeping it pressed, turn the 2400 on. If the voodoo doll worked, you should see a big ugly SCSI port icon on the 2400's LCD screen. There should be a number, too. That's the SCSI ID the 2400 is currently at. 4. Turn on the other Mac. Do NOT hold "z" on this one. Doing so would defeat the purpose of this whole shindig. 5. Pray. Even if you're not religious, just a little thought to the SCSI god will help. 6. If everything worked, you should be at the desktop on the 580CD with the 2400's drive mounted there below your startup disk. 7. There is no step seven. If it still doesn't work... Try again, and pray harder. Or make a bootable floppy on the 580 to boot the 2400... Good luck. -Andrew (lurking for so long until now)
