Partition, Partition, Partition, 

Seriously you should partition for a lot of reason,
main one being if you want to ever use the SCSI disk
mode you need to have at laest one partion less than
2.0 gigs or it won't work. Also if you want to have
multiple OS's partitions are a must. Another reason is
speed, depending on what you are using the computer
for this might be important.
