Keith & Brian, I don't have first-hand experience with this matter, but I was put off upgrading to a larger-than-4GB HD by Apple Technical Note TN1116. It says a problem occurs in the 2400 *IF* you install an ATA drive larger than 4GB *AND* you try to use the 2400 in SCSI disk mode. Here are some direct quotes from that Tech Note: - "Partitioning the drive will not solve this problem." - "To avoid this problem, you have two choices: 1. Do not upgrade PowerBooks prior to the PowerBook G3... to ATA hard drives greater than 4 gigabytes in capacity. 2. If you do upgrade an older PowerBook to an ATA hard drive greater than 4 gigabytes in capacity, do not use such a PowerBook in SCSI disk mode." I have heeded this advice because I *do* use my PB2400c in SCSI disk mode regularly. If you don't, then you can choose to disregard it and/or experiment with setting up partitions <4GB and see what happens if you ever do try SCSI disk mode. Technical Note TN1116 can be downloaded from: http://eshop.macsales.com/Descriptions/Specs/applepbhdtechnote.pdf Just my two cents' worth! Best regards, Joe LeKostaj
