Sounds like a stuck shift key somewhere.  Check the keyboard on the Duo and
make sure there's no object on the keyboard when you close the lid before
inserting it in the dock.

If you are sure nothing's holding the shift key down, you could remove the
Duo keyboard (as it's not used in the dock) by removing 3 screws from the
bottom.  (the 4th one under the trackball stays) then release the 2 ribbon
clip and remove the keyboard.
