Exactly. Apple isn't even doing anything specifically to restrict access 
to OS 9 or any other OS; it is OS 9 itself that won't run on hardware it 
doesn't recognize. So essentially they're failing to update OS 9 for 
compatibility with the new hardware, rather than making the new hardware 
incompatible with OS 9 or anything else.

But if Linux, OS X or any other OS is designed to be compatible with 
current hardware, it will run fine.
