You do not need a CardBus mod for an 802.11b card, and they work find in 
both 9 and X. I have used the Farallon Skyline 11 MBps for a million 
years and it works great, and I found its drivers to be much nicer than 
the Orinoco (to be fair, I used a very early version of the Orinoco, but 
I sent it back because they were so bad). So I guess I don't know about 
the Orinoco but the Skyline is fine. Also works with OS X (with 
WirelessDriver).
