2400 Battery Refresh - Japanese Vendor Status?

I came across this old article and was wondering if any of our Japan 
residing folks might be in a position to see what, if anything, is 
happening with this.  Dateline: 2-28-01

Well Apple did finally release a new sub-notebook, more or less. ;-)
