However, you can still configure an Apple AirPort Base Station if that's what you want to use for an access point. But IMHO there's no reason to buy an AirPort Base Station unless you need the modem or AppleTalk support, as it is more expensive than better-featured products. (I use an SMC 4-port router with nice firewall features and AppleTalk support which I got for $60 from a vendor listed on DealMac.com.) Any card will require its own drivers. I believe the Orinoco is the only one that can use Apple's AirPort drivers instead, since it's based on the same chipset as Apple's card, but it's not supported on the 2400, and I had no luck making it work when I had one. Perhaps an owner of that card who uses it with AirPort software can speak up. And as I said, the Skyline drivers always worked just fine for me with that card -- there's no overwhelming reason to necessarily use the Apple AirPort software if something else works as well. Ivan.
