Also if this is occurring it is a function of the drive not the host computer. 2nd Are you sure that it is not a software program like office doing its default indexing (or some other software doing a similar file index) if it is happening at the same interval then it is probably S/W, ( Anti-Virus S/W can also do this), try booting with extensions off and see if it still happens.
