I have used a dab of heat sink compound (the white stuff used between CPU's
and heatsinks) to 'bed' the thermistor in between 2 cells, then I put a
small piece of tape over the top to hold it in place, I have seen 'factory'
laptop batteries that did it in exactly the same way.
