You have a bad power i/o board that is why you are getting a red x on the battry icon, this will also affect the pram battery, you may notice the date resets if it is left unplugged from the power adapter. If you a savy tech you might be able to repair the board yourself. however you must trouble shoot it first. The best fix it to replace the board (cost $100 or so) Brian --- Bon Davis <taichi at austin.rr.com> wrote: > hi all > I am trying to figure why this 2400 boots up when > you plug in the > power adapter. > > I had to do a Long Power Manager Reset , since it > had been sitting > DEAD for maybe years? > After a few resets and one solid green light in the > latch . > It now starts, sleeps and shuts down fine. > > THe battery was not recognized by the OS. menu bar > icon shows the > little red X over the battery. > so i have left it OUT. > > When you plug it in the 2400 starts up without > pressing the power > key.
