There are companies that repair LCD panels and most
of those sell or exchange them.

Unfortunately the prices for any of that usually
exceed the value of the laptop by double or more. :(

Could be simply a bad contrast control or loose
connection. I worked on a Toshiba with a permanently
dark screen, could see the lights at top and bottom
but the screen was all black. So I took the lid
apart, didn't see anything obviously wrong, but
before I gave the owner the bad news that this $75
value laptop needed a $195 LCD, I put it back together
and it worked fine. Funny thing is I never
disconnected
the contrast control board!
