If it does not touch, then you need to get some thermal transfer material in there. I've actually seen folks use AL foil with some thermal grease (available at Radio Shack) which worked fine. Also, RatShack does have (or used to have) thermal transfer pads for Intel CPUs. One cut down would also work well. As the PPC chip generates a bit more heat, Apple put a thermal "wing" on the CPU...in fact, I may have one kicking around. Overkill for the 280, but if you want it, I'll mail it out to you.
