Thomas makes an interesting point.

Many of us have bought and sold through the list - because you have some
comeback with the seller, and you often get better looked after kit (or at
least more honestly described). Negotiations quickly arrive at a price,
far quicker than an eBay auction, and without all the dodgy stuff
(shilling, surcharges etc.)

Now, is all that worth paying a little more than eBay pricing (excluding
the mad bidding that started this thread, that is)?

Well it is for me, because 2400 parts are rare here in the UK as the 2400
was never sold here. Many eBay sellers won't ship overseas, which
restricts even that supply of 2400 bits for me further.
