hi if you intend to ever use scsi disk mode to hoook the 2400 up to a Mac desktop as a external drive you can not use a drive bigger than 4 gb. Some folks found 4.3 gb ibm drives would not even work... massive data loss may occour. ymmv one can find 4 gb apple branded drives on ebay better to blow off scsi disk mode and gett a bigger drive. a 5400 rpm may be generating too much heat so I would shy away from that Again ymmv I used a 10 gb from a newer powerbook that I put a larger drive into. Look on Dealmac.com there was a 5400 60gb drive for $135 that would be outrageous !! MAybe Hot would be the word. Bon Original Message: ----------------- From: Thomas G. It has a 16MB cache which makes virtual RAM seem quite nice (as long as I leave it under about 8MB). I'd say that drive is going well. It's a fast drive which means it runs a bit warm at 5400 RPM, and it draws a bit more power than some since it runs at a 5V and 1 Amp. -t _______________________________________________ DuoList mailing list DuoList at listserver.themacintoshguy.com http://listserver.themacintoshguy.com/mailman/listinfo/duolist -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .
