wouldnt it be easier just to detach the screen (2 screws) and fold it backward onto the 'bottom' of the 'top ;) and slide the result into a wood frame that had brackets to hold it? no case destruction required... and if you wanted the 'top back just remove it from its digipic frame and reattach the screen... ..also.. wouldnt it be more interesting to put the speaker to use and have audio clips from the person being displayed? or perhaps sounds from the environment in which the photo was taken? (ocean sounds for a pic of you and yours standing on a beach) [look for an addon to applescript called 'akua sweets'... at least i think thats how its spelled] or... for a 'geek' environment (server room... computer repair shop... computer filled bedroom...) just leave the laptop intact and wrap wire around the 'joint' where the lcd attaches to the rest of the computer and hang it from the wall ;) (yes.. uber geek... fits right in with 'harddrive clocks' and motherboard picture frame borders) -or- in the case of the 'ubergeek' server room.. use a slideshow screensaver and dumb terminal program... power saving [26watt vs 100watt] head for a server... -and- a digipic frame ;) no sense in making something useless out of something still usefull.... (digipic frames always seemed like a waste of a good LCD display to me...) ok... i think ive rambled enough... PS does anyone know where to get a 'slideshow' screensaver that supports jpeg??? PPS no, this wasnt a gripe... i typed ideas as my mind went from one thing to another On Tue, 28 Dec 2004 08:19:05 -0500, Jim Allen <jimallen at bright.net> wrote: > On the surface this seem like sacrilege, but isn't this a better end than > many Duos get... dumped in a landfill or going to the plastic recycler? > 'Course I'm still using my 280c, but if I wasn't, this could be considered a > fitting end for a loyal friend.
