weird serial port on duo 280c

as a PC user the standard (and always the same) 9pin
RS232 port on a PC is 'normal' to me.. but the port on
this mac... thats a different story... according to a
document i found on the web pins 1 & 2 should be
hardware handshake... but on this 280c they dont seem
to work.. is this true? or have i got a flaky driver?
(i cant get the port to open in 'hardware handshake'
mode) i read somewhere that the 128K and 512K (i think
thats the right number) macs had their HSKo pin held
high by tying it through a resistor to the powersupply
(cute). i dont mean to offend any mac users but apple
would have done well to be consistant with their
design (in other words they should have -all-
supported hardware handshake .. either that or have
never supported it at all)
