I don't understand-what aspect of "performance" was
cut in half when you were connected to the internet?
If no other programs were running what did you check
the speed of?
Anyway, I also tried using the built in modem on my
2300c and found out that 14400 is too slow for web
pages. I am now using a US Robotics external modem
either 33K or 56K. Both work quite well, although the
2300c is still a dog compared to this Athlon 1900+ PC
running Windows!

they weren't kidding when they said the built in 14.4
modem on the
Duo 2300c was pure garbage. Requiring the computer to
handle tasks
that the modem should take care of was a bad idea.
Speedometer tests I
did showed performance in many cases cut nearly in
half - just by being
connected to the internet (no other programs
running)!!! Incredible!
Is there something I can replace this with? Do those
19.9 global
village modems have the same problems? Does anybody
know where I can
still buy one (at any price)??
