At 02:23 PM 10/6/2004, Alex Santos 100MB Neostrada Mail, had this to say : >Poll: > >What do people here on the list use their duos for? > >Word processing, spreadsheets, as a dock to their Newtons etc? > >How many of you still take them on the road, if you do what do you use >them for? > >Does anyone here use them as dictaphones? Is it even possible? > >Let's here what your duos are doing. For my use (I need wi-fi, USB and Linux) the Duo's I have fell short quickly. I now use a PB 3400c 240Mhz. When I did use them, I managed to get a good 2300c , which runs at 100Mhz , and it was used for word processing, lite web browsing, Linux serial terminal access, FileMaker Pro development, e-mail (Eudora 6.x was too slow though), games (NetTrek anyone?!) and invoice creation and printing. I have some DuoDocks as well as some mini-docks and a NewerTech EtherDock. I plan on setting up a small computer classroom soon where the Duo's will get used for word processing mainly. I think I will even have the Docks setup so that when a person is ready, they can dock the Duo and print or e-mail their work. I did get the 2300c to use voice password in 9.1! The only real limiting factor for the Duo's these days are screen size and speed. The new 12" laptops Apple makes are a fairly good descendant, but I think the "dock" idea still rocks. Afterall, the wintel makers still provide dockability to some degree. Sincerely, R.
