Hi Gang, When I boot one of my 280s (the superfast one with the 40M of memory) I find the HD symbol in its regular place in the upper right corner of the screen but, watch this, six more identical HD icons appear on the desk top. They are all functional in that the contents of the HD open when any one is double clicked. I trashed the extra sextet but got a notice to the effect that they would reappear on the next reboot. And they did. What do do? Rebuilt the desk top with mixed results. At the end of the rebuild cycle the desktop doesn't return to "normal." Instead, the rebuild window reopens and offers me the choice of rebuilding or canceling. If I choose 'rebuild" again, it goes thru the cycle followed by a repeat of the same and I'm forced to employ a hard shutdown to get rid of the rebuild window. On the reboot the extra HD icons are still present. The extra HD icons seemingly have no impact on the operation of the 280...everything functions normally, so far. However, they would appear to be symptomatic of something gone wrong and I'd like them outta there. Any/all help appreciated. Jack C __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
