Yes, I just realized that this could also be related to the 
recent problems many folks have had with Firewire devices 
and Mac OS 10.3.6 and 10.3.7. Upgrading the Oxford bridge 
firmware on your enclosure may solve the problem.

However, there is a serious mistake on the fwdepot.com
web site. They state that there are no known problems with 
Oxford 911 chisets (Firewire 400) and Mac OS X, and that the 
only problems are with Oxford 922 chipsets (Firewire 800). 
That is a mistake. There are numerous verified reports that 
the problems are with both 911 and 922 chipsets, so ignore 
that particular comment you might see on some web sites.

In any event, make sure you get the firmware update for the 
Oxford 911 bridge/chipset. Your enclosure is a Firewire 400 
(Oxford 911) and not a Firewire 800 (Oxford 922).
