I've been using a Keyspan USB to Serial adaptor to run my not so old Epson Photo EX, which made the transition to OSX without problems. Then the printer croaked itself for other reasons... If your printer is getting old, consider the cost of a repair to it, or the lower costs of new printers, and the better print quality generally to be found. Think about looking for USB2 and greater transfer speeds, as USB is rather poky in general. Also think about getting a printer which has separate reservoirs for different ink colors, as you will rapidly spend much more on ink than on the printer if you do much printing. A friend is raving about his HP injet wich has separate reservoirs, and separate jets, which further reduces ink costs. "I'm seeking advice/experience on USB to Serial adapters. Do they work, and which are of the best? Or should I just invest in a new USB printer? My printing needs are light, mainly B&W text documents, with the occasional color image or photo. Running OS10.2.2 whenever possible, and OS9.xxx if needed. Thanx in advance for any and all collective wisdom." Most of the problems with serial printers working is not the connection - it's the lack of drivers in OSX. Most USB to serial adapters work fine. Drivers are impossible to find for alot of serial stuff. Find the drivers first then invest in the mechanics. jj -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .
