[G4] MP3 music loading/Rio

I just got a Rio Sport MP3 player. It wants to have iTunes installed to load
music to it or the SD card. It seems that there should be a way to drag
mp3's to the SD card (plugged in to a reader)or even the Rio plugged in to
USBB and have the Rio recognize the music files. Anyone know if this is
possible?

Still haven't installed iTunes because I heard about conflicts with
Toast-I'm still using OS9.1 Maybe this isn't a concern any more?
