AGP Video Cards / Radeon 8500 vs 9000

Hello all, and thank in advance for your responses.  

I've had my 8500 for quite a while now (prob over a year) and I love
it.  (I can run all the games with great results on my 19" lcd.)  At
that point in time, I believe that the 9000 was just about to or just
did get introduced.  Afterwards, I had tried to compare them, but am I
correct in drawing the conclusion that the 9000 is really just a
repackaged slightly modified 8500?
