Ann, two things. First change the preferences for StuffIt Expander
and StuffIt Deluxe, if you have it, to delete file after expanding.
Of the the three files generated by the download, you can trash the
.tar file, save the .dmg file for OS X and the folder/volume for OS9.

Second, I assume you are downloading to the desktop. I have found it
easier to create a top level folder on my one of my drives named
"Downloads" and then change the preferences in Safari, Eudora, Fetch,
etc. to download to that folder. In your case, i suggest you create a
sub-folder in your download folder for stuff for your Dad and
Option-drag the files you want for him to that folder. The original
file should remain where it is and you will have a copy in the folder
for your Dad. When you come to burn the CD, all you need to do is
drag the folder of stuff for your Dad to the window in Toast. An
alternative is to select a drive icon or the downloads folder, go up
to the View menu, down to the Customize Toolbar and add the Burn icon
to your folder tool bar. Then whenever you select a file you can burn
it from the finder. The latter is enabled in Panther, just as Toast 6
adds a contextual menu labeled "Toast It". I am unsure about burning
from the finder in earlier versions of OS X, since I burn almost
exclusively using Toast.

Have fun, Mike

Almost never pointless.
