Installing AOL

I can't get AOL installed, no way, no how. I'm driving a G4 DP 1.4 with OS 10.2.6. I had some troubles...yadda, yadda,...replaced a bad memory stick...blah, blah... did a clean install. Now AOL will not work. I have tried to install from an old version (AOL for OS X), from an installer I had saved on a CD, and from a new downloaded version. All will launch, but as soon as it hits the "Initializing" point, it "unexpectedly quits." The work-around sucks.

Any ideas?
