Anne, I don't have a subscription, either. I just read it each day and save off stuff I might need later, but I didn't save any of the Palm articles. I do think that you can go from 2.6 to 4.x without any problem. 2.6 runs in Classic if I remember right. You should probably delete all the 2.6 components before you install version 4 (yes, if you save your user data, you'll be ok). Version 4.0 and 4.1 run native in OS X. My wife and I both use 4.0 with our Sony Clie' and Handspring Visor Edge and they sync quite nicely. Try going to 4.x on the G4 and see if it solves your problem. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
